Intermediate Foundation Engineer

Job Description

Right Six Consulting Inc. is looking for an intermediate engineer to join our growing team.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil, Structural or Geotechnical Engineering with a background in reinforced concrete design, structural steel design, structural dynamics, and deep foundations.

This is a full-time position that is primarily office based, but will require some construction site field work in and around Calgary, and potentially some travel in western Canada. Tasks will vary depending on your skill set, but may include the following:

  • engineering design of deep foundations (cast-in-place concrete, driven, helical, and micropiles);
  • engineering design of commercial and industrial structures;
  • engineering design of retaining walls;
  • static and dynamic load testing of foundation elements;
  • quality assurance monitoring and testing of foundation elements;
  • scheduling project and field work;
  • pricing project and field work;
  • communicating and coordinating with clients and general contractors.

As a member of a small company you’ll be exposed to all aspects of the business and have the unique opportunity to contribute in a variety of ways (e.g. business development, strategic planning, process management) depending on your interests and skill set. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, and be willing to show initiative and ingenuity in all aspects of the job.

Qualifications

Must haves:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in geotechnical, civil, or structural engineering
  • 5 or more years work experience in a related field
  • Registered with APEGA as a P.Eng.
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interest in deep foundations

Good to haves:

  • Experience with engineering software including LPile, SAP2000, SlopeW, AutoCAD or similar products
  • Experience with construction field work
  • Experience with high strain dynamic load testing
  • Experience with deep foundation quality assurance testing
  • Experience with retaining structure design
  • Class 3 driver’s license
